Retirement is a time to look back with pride and look forward with anticipation. It is not a time of sleep, but a time to awaken to the beauty of the world around you and the joy that comes when you cast out all the negative elements that cause confusion and turmoil in your mind and allow serenity to prevail.
The kids are gone, and the career is over. Only you can determine how important retirement is to you and what you are willing to sacrifice to live it. Living your life to its fullest, this also includes becoming a retiree. Some people have the impression that retirement is a permanent vacation with one exciting thing after another, one power packed event after the next. Now that’s a comfortable retirement, and is actually attainable.
Don’t be surprised if you find anything unusual here about retirement that’s just me. There has been some interesting and unusual things in life worth reading.
Having been given the desire of writing an interesting presentation on retirement, this is what I came up with. Just hope you find it interesting too!
Retirement ideas range from imagining your self living in a life of luxury to catching the biggest fish. The ideas hit on every aspect of retirement—what to do, what to see, where to live, or playing pinochle and rummy late into the afternoon.
Take that motorcycle trip to Alaska, and go camping a few miles from home with the miniature schnauzers. Always keep your heart open and your mind alert. Enjoy retirement, you’ve earned it.
I tried to use a mixture of seriousness and humor in this composition on retirement. This is to liven the mood and make the reading more enjoyable.
I was inspired to write and produce this article by my long time friend Jack McCoy who is now entered the adventure of retirement. Thanks Jack for being a friend first, and congratulations on your retirement. Inspiration can be considered to be one of the key ingredients to writing. Only if one is inspired, can one get to writing on any subject especially like retirement.
